How did I get into this?

I have been breeding dogs for over 30 years.  I started with Toy Poodles, then it was American Eskimo Spitz, and now Shibas.

I ran across this breed by accident, seeing Katana in a petstore.  I fell in love with her immediately and started doing research on the breed.  I found out that they are still pretty rare and hard to find.  I wanted to start breeding them just so that more people could enjoy this amazing dog.....not to mention, I love having puppies around all the time!

It took me almost two years to find the perfect male,  (so many of the breed are skinny and tall.)  I like my Shiba's more on the stocky side.  I saw Taisen and called my husband immediately.  He said, "bring him home." and our family was complete.

Shiba puppies are all born black or dark red and then they start getting their color at about 4 weeks old.  Most of them turn out to look just like Taisen and Katana.  Several of our customers have sent photos of the older pups and it is hard to tell them from the parents!

Our family

My husband (Wade) and I were married in 2005 and blended our families together.  The children are all in our custody 100% of the time so it is a full house!

Our oldest is a 21 year old (man) who has moved out on his own but comes to visit often.  He is studying to be a Karate instructor and will be getting married in Oct 2010 to a wonderful girl named Jenn.

Next is our 18 year old.  He is an actor, singer and dancer.  He is attending classes at the Colorado Film School and wants to be a director of photography.

Then we have a 13 year old girl.   She is the one that cleans the kennel and lets the puppies out in the morning.  She is the reason your puppy will be mostly housebroken when you pick it up!

The 12 year old is next.  She plays with the puppies and helps with the cleanup duties.

Finally, the 8 year old.  She is in charge of cleaning up the back yard, or as we call it...Poo duty. She makes sure the puppies have a sanitary place to run and play, and that you don't soil your shoes when you come for a visit!
